This chip allows to have up to 8 digital inputs/outputs connected through I2C bus. Thanks to three address lines (which can be set to 0 or 1), a single I2C bus can handle up to 4 such chips. This means you are able to extend the number of Arduino I/O ports by 64 or 128 in case of using PCF8574A expanders (not sold by Nettigo).
