Adapter BH1750 for NAM

Since NAMF-2020-46rc5 (in Polish) NAMF has support for ambient light sensor BH1750. But support is only in software, You are on Your own how to mount sensor.

Sensor is not waterproof and our (and our customers) attempts to make it water resistant showed it is not so simple. So, instead we did some test with BH1750 sensor hidden inside of NAM case, behind lid and sticker. In our opinion You can place sensor inside of NAM. If You use sticker which is added to NAM, then sensor inside shows measurements 8.5 times lower than sensor placed outside. You can read some info on our blog (in Polish).

Inside the case BH1750 is safe from humidity, however there is no simple way to mount it reliable (we don’t count hot glue as solution). Here comes this small adapter. It is just a PCB with hole for BH1750 connector, so thigh that sensor does not fall out. Small mounting hole (for M3 screw) allows to mount it on LCD standoff. You will have problem with fitting BH1750 with this adapter and LCD in one NAM. Probably You will need to choose one of those two.

Mounting adapter is for use with BH1750 which not have PCB hidden inside of plastic dome (PCB and dome edge has to be on the same level). Older sensors had PCB “hidden” inside of dome (2-3 mm below dome edge). If You have such sensor, then this adapter won’t fit. It works with BH1750 sold by us.
