When building a device that is to operate in the LoRa network, knowing its position, what do you need in your ideal device?
You definitely need a LoRa radio, GPS, and usually a display is useful. Power from a LiPo battery (and therefore charging support systems) is also a must. This can be achieved in many ways, using many modules. But someone at Heltec noticed this repeating pattern and decided to put it all into one development board. Specifically - ESP32 (something has to handle everything), LoRa SX1262 radio and UC6580 GNSS control system (and immediately a ceramic antenna). In addition, a 0.96-inch OLED with a resolution of 180x80. A connector for the LiPo battery and all the necessary ‘little things’ complete the picture.
Meet the Heltec Wireless Tracker!
Yep, you’re right - Meshtastic works on that too!
Note - the set does not include 868 MHz antenna.
