CO2 concentration detector in NDIR technology

You’re probably wondering what an NDIR sensor is. In Wikipedia we read that it is nondispersive infrared sensor. Nondispersive - without element that splits light into components. There is no prism or diffraction grating. The NDIR sensor is a spectroscopic sensor that uses a light source and usually an additional optical filter. The point is to choose a very narrow spectral range that most closely matches the absorption area of the gas. Any gas absorbs light at different wavelengths in a different way. Based on this, we can identify the gas and estimate its concentration.
